Located in the Southgate subdivision, near the Rice Village area, the project was designed for a growing family with a firm budget. The house has two levels that clearly delineate public space from private areas. The second floor accommodates the private areas, including all of the bedrooms and a study, while the first floor was designed to entertain friends and family. Complete live-in quarters are also located on the first floor.
Materials used on the exterior of the house are primarily cement plaster, cement siding, insulated aluminum windows and a standing seam metal roof. On the interior, stained concrete and tongue & groove pine flooring were used. All other interior finishes are traditional, but trim was minimized where possible to match the contemporary style of the owners.
