Since its establishment in 1991, the office of David Hotson Architect has completed some fifty residential, institutional, and commercial projects. While varied in scope, budget, and schedule, these projects share a common emphasis on the fluent manipulation of spatial volumes, an articulate handling of materials and construction details, and an ongoing engagement in environmentally responsible architectural principles. They also manifest a commitment to impeccable execution and a responsive, client-oriented practice.
The office has also worked in collaboration with a range of noted architects and designers including David Adjaye, Santiago Calatrava, Winka Dubbledam, Hayaki Kita, and Alfredo Brillembourg. The office has collaborated extensively with Yale classmate Maya Lin, who is best known for her competition winning design for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC.
