This 2,500 s.f. weekend house occupies a high plateau of land in the Berkshire Mountains with dramatic views across the Hudson River Valley. The house’s narrow plan allows for a simultaneous experience of the two major sides of the house. An entry “bridge” penetrates a wall whose interior is defined by floor-to-ceiling book cabinets. The opposing wall facing the valley is floor-to-ceiling glass exposing a dramatic horizon framed by a stone terrace and a cantilevered roof. An open, horseshoe kitchen is the anchor of the living space, fulfilling the symbolic and functional needs of the owner, a renowned writer and food critic.
