This project offers a unique solution to infill development in Seattle. Because of the narrow site, the building's width is immediately limited. This provides an opportunity to create a vertical space at the center of the home that is experienced upon entry. This volume is open to the roof, collecting natural light throughout the day, and connecting all spaces throughout the house. While the home is two-stories at the street in order to respect the existing urban fabric, it is three-stories at the rear to access territorial and mountain views. The exterior south wall bends in only at the first floor to allow entry to the center of the home. Elements are treated as objects, clad with separate materials to distinguish them at the building's exterior and in the interior volumes.
