Queen Anne, Seattle, WA - 2007
The 3,900 square foot home sits on Queen Anne's south slope, with spectacular city and water views. A series of misguided additions and renovations were stripped away and overhauled to expose a once proud structure of clean lines. To modernize and compliment this home, its existing masonry was repaired and stained, terraces were skimcoated and oak hardwoods were ebonized to provide a rich background texture. New clear maple cabinets, stone materials and decorative metal were employed throughout. This home presents an excellent case study on thoughtfully updating a mid-century modern design. The basic “kit of parts” of tried and tested hardware, lighting and fixtures (refined, cost-effective and durable) is used on this home to create timeless and lasting value.
Price per square foot (2007 dollars): $129
