People

Steve Hoedemaker
Principal

Steve comes from a family of builders and architects, so the love of the craft is in his blood. What he finds most exciting about the work is the marriage of people and buildings – creating a unique set of spaces around a person, couple, or family.

His design approach is to play with familiar forms and ideas while considering smart and modern compositions that give new life to old ideas in a way that is both fresh and timeless. Ideally, a renovation will feel current and relevant while blending seamlessly in look and feel with the house’s original form and structure.

Outside of work he likes to spend time at his family farm in the San Juan Islands, sail, travel, and host great dinner parties. Steve also serves as president of the Photo Center Northwest.
Tom Bosworth
Principal

For Tom, natural light is the most important building material, providing shape and meaning to everything he creates. His design work, which totals nearly 90 projects, combines light and a highly specific sense of place with classical ideas of order, simplicity and beauty.

After receiving his professional architecture degree from Yale, he joined Eero Saarinen and Associates where he helped design several major projects while also teaching part-time at Yale. His growing reputation led to an offer to become a full Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Washington, where he remained on the faculty for 30 years and is currently a Professor Emeritus. He is the recipient of countless honors and awards, both academic and architectural.
Bryan Chilcote
Architect

Bryan loves to keep many plates spinning at once. He is an expert at keeping things organized, tracking multiple projects and activities, and figuring out the tricky details. He loves the complex process of taking the design from a sketch to a building – production of drawings, permitting and careful coordination among owners, consultants, contractors and Bosworth Hoedemaker’s principals.

A sustainably minded outdoorsman and card-carrying member of Trout Unlimited, Bryan’s idea of fun includes fly fishing, hiking and camping, cooking, and spending time with his wife and son.
Tori Masterson
Architect

Tori’s positive go-with-the-flow attitude is her recipe for success both as a team leader and team member. Her entire professional career has been in small firms with a focus on custom residential work. She loves creating spaces that are well-proportioned, light-filled and serene. She sees change as a wonderful challenge, and finds it rewarding to work out the many details each project presents.

Outside of work, Tori’s husband (Joshua, also an architect) and daughters are her favorite activity – playing games and exploring the city, as well as spending weekends cooking and entertaining a great group of friends.
Kelly Jimenez
Architect

Kelly’s professional career started in Southern California working on sophisticated and complex custom residential projects. She loves the highly collaborative environment at Bosworth Hoedemaker and the involvement she has with all aspects of her projects. She enjoys the challenge of weaving the complex details of each project into unique and thoughtfully designed spaces.

When she’s not bouncing ideas off of her teammates, she can be found making throw pillows from her own designs, skiing, traveling or walking around Green Lake with her husband Chris who’s also an architect.
Oso Hoedemaker
Inspector

Oso Hoedemaker was adopted from the Seattle Humane Society in 2007. He is half German Shorthair Pointer and half Chocolate Lab. From this mix he has the energy of the pointer, the devotion of the lab, and will fetch until your arm falls off.

He and his human companion, Steve, have a simple bargain — he will be calm at work if Steve runs him hard after a ball once a day. He sleeps on his bed in front of the fire in the conference room or under Steve’s desk by day, getting up only to greet the UPS man (who carries treats), the mailwoman (who has treats), and clients. His favorite pastimes are catching field mice, retrieving, and modeling. To date he has appeared in multiple local, national, and international publications. He travels to all project sites and is willing to go by car, by seaplane, or by boat. His official role at Bosworth Hoedemaker is "inspector," because he likes to inspect all project sites thoroughly and as often as possible.
