Rik Adams and Rick Mohler founded ADAMS MOHLER ARCHITECTS in 1991. Rick Ghillino joined the firm in 1993 and in 2002 we became ADAMS MOHLER GHILLINO ARCHITECTS. The 'three Ri(c)ks' work closely with a small staff and remain personally involved in every phase of every project. While small in size, the firm has been recognized for its work in a broad range of project types. Projects include custom single-family houses and remodels; restaurant and retail interiors; and commercial adaptive reuse and renovation. The different project types inform and influence one another in a symbiotic manner to form a single body of work.
Rik Adams has degrees in both Fine Arts and Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. The son of a boat building finish carpenter, he brings both creativity and an attention to detail to the work.
Rick Mohler received his BA and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognized with several awards for design including the Arthur Spayd Brooke Medal for outstanding design studio work and the Paul Phillipe Cret Medal for outstanding thesis project. As a part-time, tenured Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Washington, he brings the reality of practice to the classroom and the critical thinking of the academy to practice.
Rick Ghillino, a native Seattleite, has undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture from the University of Washington. He is an astute design critic who brings decades of experience in project management, documentation and quality control to the firm.
