Frederick Stelle is the founding principal of Stelle Architects. He has 30 years of design experience in institutional and residential projects that range from educational campuses and cultural facilities to administrative centers, private and multifamily residences.
Mr. Stelle began his career in the office of Edward Larrabee Barnes where he directed the renovation of the Yale University dormitories. In 1976 Mr. Stelle co-founded the Manhattan firm Frederick Stelle/Richard Gluckman Architects and in 1985 he opened Stelle Architects on the east end of Long Island. From the beginning Mr. Stelle has strived to realize his client's needs and dreams in clear and vital forms. Stelle Architects have made a consistent commitment to applying sustainable design principles that celebrate the natural environment. As the principal of Stelle Architects, Mr. Stelle shares the design and administrative responsibilities with his staff and oversees new business development. He is licensed in New York and Connecticut and holds an NCARB certificate. He is a member of the Peconic Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Mr. Stelle lives with his wife and three children in North Haven. An avid outdoor person he is a sailor and a pilot and enjoys the opportunities available in the beautiful place where he lives and works. A long time conservationist, Mr. Stelle is a trustee of the Long Island Chapter of The Nature Conservancy and serves on the trustee council. In North Haven Village he served on the planning board, six terms as a Trustee and Deputy Mayor for four years. He has also served on a number of planning committees and boards for schools, libraries, workforce housing and other community based facilities.
