Hufft Projects Porch House

Hufft Projects — Porch House

Description

The Porch House, located just west of Springfield, Missouri, presented Hufft Projects with a unique challenge. The clients wanted a residence that referenced the archetypal forms of agrarian buildings but also spoke to something distinctly modern. A hybrid building has emerged which speaks to both fronts. The Porch House greets visitors with its namesake, a large east and south facing porch. A ten foot cantilevering canopy provides dramatic cover. rnrnThe residence also commands a view of the expansive valley to the south. L-shaped in plan, the house’s master suite is located in the western leg and is isolated away other functions allowing privacy. Sustainable highlights include a geothermal system, optimized solar orientation, and high performance glass.
