Rancho Santa Fe Estate

Rancho Santa Fe Estate is a contemporary residence designed by JT Engel Architect, located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Conceived as a family home with the atmosphere of a private view resort, the project was shaped by the sloped hillside site and a brief calling for expansive yet energy-efficient living spaces. The plan centers on an open great room that includes a chef’s kitchen, family area, and wet bar. Full-height sliding glass walls connect this central space to a terrace with a 60-foot saltwater pool, pavilion, and a zen garden below. Each of the five bedrooms is arranged to form lofted private suites with high ceilings for spatial distinction. An elevator links the levels, and sustainable features such as owned solar panels and a tightly sealed building envelope contribute to low operating costs.
