Description

The design for this addition to a 1920's South Austin bungalow is informed by an existing 33" diameter Oak tree in the backyard. The Oak tree is protected by the new City of Austin Heritage Tree Ordinance and consequently created a large area in the backyard that we could not build on. In response to this, the building slab snakes around the tree and a cantilevered deck brings you right up to the trunk while also protecting the roots. The two-story addition contains an Entertaining Room, a Study, and a Restroom on the first floor and a Master Bedroom and Bath on the second floor.rn
