Located in the bustling West Chelsea High-Line neighborhood, the 2500 SF corner loft is housed in a former warehouse, with restored original brick facade. The client, a successful young race car driver & his fashion model wife, requested a tranquil residence for their New York visits, as well as entertaining guests. The strategy adopted was to insert a modern open kitchen, clad in wood panels, into the center and thus creating a public front flanked by private surrounding functions. The mirrored Hallway accentuates the reflected Hudson River light, leading to the Living Room with panorama view of Chelsea bordering the Hudson River. Connecting the public and private realms is the Kitchen and Dining Area, which acts as a transitional space, as well as the loft's focal point. Material, texture and coloration are designed to further articulate the architectural design intention. The natural grain of the quartered ash with vertical/horizontal veneer paired with the soft porcelain tile contrasts the cool precision of stainless steel appliances and satin nickel fixtures. The interior decoration further enhances the calm tranquility of the loft with carefully selected and placed furnishings.
