ART[house] is a residential project in Omaha, Nebraska, conceived for a client seeking a home that merges interior and exterior environments and accommodates a significant art collection. The house draws architectural references from Richard Neutra, notably the Kaufmann House, with an emphasis on framing views and fostering visual continuity between inside and outside. Each room is oriented for specific outlooks and direct access to the backyard through sliding glass doors. The plan is organized into three function-driven wings, all linked by a central main living area. The main living space adopts an open plan layout, defined by 16-foot-high ceilings and a roof structure lifted on three sides to admit extensive natural light. Central to the interior is a feature termed the "wet cube," which organizes the kitchen, bar, and pantry functions while also providing a spatial counterpoint within the tall main volume. Finished in white automotive paint, the wet cube introduces a reflective quality and establishes a material focal point within the collection display space.
