X marks the spot for this weekend house situated at the intersection of a prairie landscape and a forested ravine. A modest budget led to the design of a simple box which has been carved to provide an open living space. This "hollow" space is sheathed in wood paneling across the floors, walls and ceiling and provides uninterrupted views to both native landscapes. Camouflaged into the wall are sliding wood panels; each giving access to the private areas of the house. The exterior of the house is clad with corrugated aluminum. At each window and sliding door, the corrugated aluminum has been perforated to allow dappled light to enter the space while still providing privacy.
