My environmental architectural practice provides a wide range of services tornhelp building owners and users gain a better understanding of the environmental factorsrnthat will impact building operation and performance, right within the design phase.rnrnWorking with the Environment:rnrnTo mitigate a building’s impact on the environment, it is important to first understand howrnthe environment will impact the building. I begin my design process by establishing arnbasis of design by documenting site conditions, climate/weather readings and solar data.rnThis holistic approach has helped inform my architectural process from the veryrnearliest stages of conceptual design.rnIn the design of a project, I combine a wide array of analysis investigations—includingrnshadows, shading, solar, lighting, thermal, ventilation, and acoustics—with highly visualrnpresentations that present analytical data directly within the context of the buildingrninformation model. This visual feedback enables me communicate complex conceptsrnand extensive datasets more effectively and helps building owners and users quickly engagernwith multifaceted performance issues—at a time when the design is sufficiently “plastic”rnand can be easily changed.
