The studio

Eggleston Farkas Architects is an internationally published and award-winning studio based in Seattle, specializing in the design of modern homes, cabins, and commercial projects. John Eggleston & Allan Farkas formed the studio as a collaborative practice in 1999. Our work has been called “sleek, aesthetic, and highly livable – contemporary designs that remain sensitive to the Northwest.” The projects that we choose to work on are those that lend themselves to personal attention from conception to completion. The integrity and consistency of each project is strengthened by our active involvement in landscape and interior design as complements to the architecture.

The design team at Eggleston Farkas Architects starts each project by documenting the factors that influence a building’s design. Broadly speaking, these factors are the client’s program and budget, building site, construction practices, and building regulations. The heart of the early design process is generating a strong concept that addresses all the factors while highlighting the most important ones. By generating a strong concept, the design team creates a critical framework for the entire project.

Getting started with Eggleston Farkas Architects

What to expect when you contact an architect — general guidance from Architects List.

The first conversation
Most residential architects start with a short call or meeting to hear about your project and see whether it’s a good fit for both of you.
What to have ready
Where the project is, roughly what you’d like to build, and a budget and timing if you know them. A few photos of work you like help too. “Not sure yet” is a fine answer.
Fees
How fees work varies by firm. Some first meetings are free; some firms charge for a site visit or feasibility study. It’s fine to ask Eggleston Farkas Architects directly.
