Hufft Projects — Table Rock Lake, Missouri
Postcard House, designed by Hufft Projects, serves as a weekend retreat for two brothers on a peninsula at Table Rock Lake, Missouri. The site offers waterfront views on three sides, prompting a design that emphasizes both the natural landscape and sustainable site strategies, including a raised structure on columns and the use of pervious paving to minimize environmental impact. The brief called for maximizing natural light, ventilation, and visual connection to the surroundings. The house uses a conventional wood frame construction, with a building envelope that includes spray-foam insulation and high-performance glazing to improve energy efficiency. Its exterior combines prefinished metal panels with stained cedar siding. Inspired by the shape of a vintage Polaroid camera, the design frames selected lake views from within, establishing distinct visual 'postcards' throughout the interior. Heating and cooling are provided by high-efficiency forced-air systems.
