Getting started with On Site Architecture
What to expect when you contact an architect — general guidance from Architects List.
- The first conversation
- Most residential architects start with a short call or meeting to hear about your project and see whether it’s a good fit for both of you.
- What to have ready
- Where the project is, roughly what you’d like to build, and a budget and timing if you know them. A few photos of work you like help too. “Not sure yet” is a fine answer.
- Fees
- How fees work varies by firm. Some first meetings are free; some firms charge for a site visit or feasibility study. It’s fine to ask On Site Architecture directly.
