The Lake Washington Residence features a contemporary design with expansive glazing and wood ceilings by Studio Zerbey.

Lake Washington Residence is a custom home designed by Studio Zerbey on a rare double lot along Seattle’s lakefront, positioned between the Burke-Gilman Trail and Lake Washington. The project retains the general footprint of the prior structure, minimizing the building area and maintaining the south-facing yard. The original detached garage was replaced with a new structure designed to support a green roof. The house features a low-sloped roof oriented to the south, and a layout that takes advantage of lake views while shielding interior spaces from the trail and neighboring properties. Window and door placement selectively frames views, balancing privacy and openness. Covered decks extend the use of outdoor spaces throughout the year. The landscaping, shaped in collaboration with Alchemie Landscape Architects, preserves an existing lawn on the east of the site, while an elevated south lawn creates a defined area for gathering around a fire pit. Landscaped steps connect these outdoor zones, easing the grade transition and integrating the house with its site.
