The Coghlan Residence is a bathroom renovation within a 1960s ranch house in Chicago, designed by Arlene Warda, Architecture+Interior Design. The remodel reconfigures the original bathroom and an adjacent walk-in closet to create a more spacious bathing area. Attention was given to the relationship between the new bathroom and the master bedroom, with three sliding doors that can either separate or connect the two spaces, allowing for flexible use and spatial expansion. The layout incorporates a walk-in shower positioned behind a tub equipped with an overhead column tub filler and a wall-mounted faucet. A window provides views and natural light from a secluded two-acre yard. Material selections include glass tile in three different colors, adding visual variety and reflectivity throughout the space. The renovation was featured on HGTV’s 'New Spaces', which documents remodeling projects with before and after perspectives.
