Home on the Ranch is a contemporary residence completed by Robbins Architecture in 2022, located in Jackson, Wyoming. Positioned with direct views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range, the project was shaped by a brief calling for a quiet and modern retreat, tailored for clients seeking respite from urban life. The natural features of the site, including surrounding high peaks and a sagebrush landscape, influenced a design approach mindful of the region’s western context.
The architectural response features an open floor plan organized to maximize daylight and panorama. Extensive glazing lines the primary living spaces, drawing in mountain vistas and amplifying the connection to the site. The building’s silhouette uses both flat and gabled rooflines, referencing the forms of the distant range. Externally, the palette consists of cedar and stone, selected for their ability to resonate with the colors and textures of the local valley. The result is a composition that balances modern massing with materials and spatial planning suited to its rugged rural surroundings.
