Fair Isle Residence

Fair Isle Residence by Fernandez Architecture is a modern home completed in 2026 on a compact site in Coconut Grove, Miami. The project was shaped by the challenges of urban density and a desire to connect daily life with the tropical landscape. The architectural brief emphasized privacy from the street while maximizing openness to the garden and outdoor spaces, responding directly to the climate and context of Miami. Designed around a tall central volume, the house introduces a vertical circulation core where a staircase with open risers and transparent balustrades creates long interior views and brings daylight to multiple levels. Expansive glazing frames mature vegetation and links living areas to terraces and a raised pool, fostering a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Deep roof planes, shaded outdoor rooms, and planted boundaries provide shade and privacy, while the use of dark structural frames, warm wood, and restrained stone surfaces establishes visual continuity throughout. The spatial organization and material palette are intended to support both enduring relevance and daily comfort.
