Positioned on a steep site with panoramic views, the house responds to its challenging topography by concentrating its outdoor space on a walkable roof, which includes the swimming pool and serves as the primary flat area. The design inverts the typical Californian residential model by stacking spaces vertically instead of spreading them across a single level. This compact arrangement amplifies the flexibility of the interior, where movable partitions can adapt the open den into a guest bedroom as needed. The garage on the street level is also designed to emit light at night, acting as a lantern for both the deck and the surrounding area.
