Werner Pool & Pavilion

Werner Pool & Pavilion is a contemporary addition to a property on North East Avenue in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Designed by deMx Architecture in collaboration with Residential for interior design, this project marks the culmination of several years of phased work around a historic residence. The most recent brief involved expanding the backyard to introduce a swimming pool and a pavilion that would functionally and visually complete the ensemble, enhancing the qualities of retreat and continuity established in earlier phases. The pavilion is articulated by a slim, floating roof and cedar-clad perimeter walls that provide both shelter and privacy while creating a measured threshold between the home and the pool. The intervention employs a restrained palette and attention to detail, referencing the material cues set by a prior carriage house-inspired guest house on the site. Cedar fencing and walls integrate with the landscape and reinforce spatial cohesion, while the open-air structure of the pavilion offers a shaded, seasonally adaptable gathering space. The project's quiet architectural language supports everyday use and knits together the outdoor environment through subtle, deliberate moves.
