Malibu Residence

Malibu Residence by Aidlin Darling Design occupies a sloping coastal site with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. The project consists of a primary residence and a guest house, both configured in response to the terrain and local climate conditions. Site resilience and integration with the landscape were central considerations in the brief. The design places pavilion structures at the upper levels, while additional spaces are embedded in the earthen hillside below. Water roofs and the use of earthen concrete, combined with glass and steel, allow the buildings to relate to the site’s topography. These elements subtly alter the land’s contours, creating an architectural expression that responds to both environmental and aesthetic priorities.
