Stinson Beach Lagoon

Stinson Beach Lagoon is a residential project by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop situated with southern exposure to Seadrift Lagoon and northern views toward Bolinas Lagoon in Stinson Beach. The brief called for an indoor-outdoor retreat suitable for gatherings of extended family and friends, leading to a layout that forms a protected courtyard to the south. This courtyard configuration maximizes sun exposure, blocks prevailing winds, and provides privacy for outdoor amenities such as a deck, fire pit, and hot tub. Living areas open directly to the courtyard, while a distinct dining bay extends upward to frame views of Bolinas Lagoon and the Marin Hills. Interior finishes were selected to support an art collection, with sheetrock walls providing display surfaces, cedar ceilings, and wide-board oak flooring. The house’s exterior is detailed in vertical board cedar paired with metal windows and doors, reflecting a palette tailored to local conditions and the coastal setting.
