Pines Ranch

Pines Ranch is a residential project by Bentley Tibbs Architect situated in East Texas. The brief called for a home grounded in its wooded setting, shaped by the rhythms and atmosphere of the surrounding pine forest. Consideration was given to the density of the trees and the movement of light and shade across the site to achieve a balance between rootedness and openness within a rural context. The house is organized around a stone structure that anchors it to the land while establishing a restrained palette. Expansive windows and shaded porches connect interior spaces with the outdoors, reinforcing continuity between daily life and the broader landscape. Outdoor gathering areas and warm interior rooms are arranged to keep the natural surroundings close at hand. Stone offers a strong sense of permanence, while generous openings introduce natural light and views of the pines, emphasizing calm and connection throughout the home.
