City Park Residence

City Park Residence, designed by Alterstudio, is located on a slope in Austin, Texas, with a site offering views of the western hills and city skyline. The brief called for a contemporary home that would integrate into the natural terrain, with particular consideration given to the site's elevation and a former limestone quarry left by demolition. Hocker collaborated on the landscape, shaping the grounds in response to these conditions and restoring native character around the house. The home's arrangement takes the form of a U at the upper level, enclosing a central courtyard and connecting interior spaces with the outdoors. A subtle entry bridge weaves through preserved oak trees, introducing the house while maintaining minimal impact on the land. The primary structure is raised above grade, enabling continuous views across both the landscape and the city. Exterior circulation routes link the living areas to a generous lawn terrace, which extends the program outdoors to include a pool, sport court, and flexible pavilion adjacent to city-facing vistas. Alterstudio also provided interior design for the residence.
