The Ramsey Residence is a single-family home designed by Clark | Richardson Architects in Austin, Texas, completed in 2021. The brief called for contemporary living spaces arranged on a typical urban lot. The design’s organizing feature is a tall spine, illuminated by clerestory windows, that runs the length of the house and structurally informs its spatial arrangement.
The formal entry leads to a sequence of main living spaces including a living room and a kitchen, each positioned along this central axis. Marble slab and wood trim finishes distinguish the public spaces, while service areas are positioned out of direct sight. A glazed corridor splits the center of the plan and opens onto two distinct courtyards, each with a dedicated purpose: one for gathering around a fire and another focused on water for reflection. Private rooms branch away from the primary axis, maintaining consistent finishes and spatial clarity. Landscape design by Open Envelope Studio supports the outdoor program.
