Neptune House

Neptune House is a complete remodel of an existing residence situated on an ocean bluff in Leucadia, California. The project required working within the constraints of the original house shell due to strict local regulations, allowing only minor modifications to the building envelope. The brief called for updated spaces to support the clients’ passion for cooking and entertaining, while maximizing ocean views and establishing privacy from the nearby busy street. On the ocean-facing west side, a large deck was introduced for outdoor living and uninterrupted views, while the east yard was transformed into a garden space to serve as a quiet retreat. Inside, walls were removed to create a generous great room that connects kitchen, living, and dining areas, emphasizing openness and flow for gatherings. A two-and-a-half story entry foyer was designed to link all three levels of the home, providing a sense of vertical continuity. The top floor was reorganized to form a master suite with an adjoining study and access to a rooftop deck, orienting the primary living space toward expansive coastal panoramas. Materials and interior details were selected to blend durability with an understated palette, complementing the surrounding environment and the existing structure.
