Hidden Oaks Residence features a black metal roof with solar panels, nestled in a wooded hillside landscape.

Hidden Oaks Residence is a ground-up single-family home designed by Centerfield Studio in Hood River, Oregon. Set on a steep hillside overlooking Mt Hood and the Hood River Valley, the project responds directly to the site's contours and orientation, with the aim of integrating building and landscape. The program called for a 4,000 square foot residence, and the design approach considered both expansive views and physical connection to the terrain. The massing is configured to follow the slope, allowing the house to engage closely with the hillside. Interior, architectural, and landscape design were all coordinated to reinforce the relationship between structure and site. Window placement and circulation enhance visual access to the natural setting, while the orientation provides both privacy and outlook. Materials and detailing were selected to support the house’s embedded character and its dialogue with the immediate environment.
