Shaker Heights Residence, designed by Dimit Architects, is a modern single-family home situated in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, Ohio. The project was shaped by the needs of an active young family, with a program organized around distinct public and private zones. The house is comprised of two intersecting wings: one dedicated to communal living, dining, and entertaining spaces, and the other housing bedrooms, a home office, exercise facilities, and auxiliary spaces. At the intersection of these wings lies a large open kitchen that serves as a central gathering point and offers views to a rear courtyard with swimming and reflecting pools. The design features a composition of rectilinear volumes, clad in light cast stone veneer and ipe wood slats over a rainscreen system. Walk-out roof decks surfaced in ipe wood extend from the second-floor bedrooms, providing private outdoor access. Additional flat roof areas are planted with prairie grasses, introducing planted surfaces to the upper levels of the residence.
