Cliffside, Malibu California

Cliffside is a single-family residence completed in 2025 by Hayne Architects in Malibu, California. Situated on Malibu’s Point Dume, the project was guided by the coastal setting and the intent to create a calm, private environment. The brief called for a new construction home that could offer both seclusion and connection to the landscape. The design arranges the home as a group of linked pavilions dedicated to living and sleeping, with circulation and views organized to maximize engagement with the outdoors. Materials such as reclaimed wood and natural stone establish a restrained, earthy palette, while the landscaping draws on tropical influences. Outdoor spaces, including an infinity pool, are integral to daily living. Interior design by Martyn Lawrence Bullard introduces layered textures and colors, working with the architecture to produce spaces informed by contemporary, modern, and rustic modern approaches.
