Windemere Residence

Windemere Residence by Inflection Architecture is a 3,500-square-foot single-family house in Houston, Texas, designed in response to the area’s floodplain conditions. The brief requested first-floor living and strong connections between interior and outdoor areas. The house is elevated nearly five feet above grade, creating an opportunity for extensive outdoor terraces and an inward-facing courtyard. The design arranges living spaces along the ground level with continuous glass walls that open directly onto approximately 1,200 square feet of terraces, integrating interior rooms with the outdoors. Courtyard landscaping and interior planters bring daylight and greenery into the core of the house. Brick walls extend from outside to inside, providing visual continuity and forming a backdrop for the central staircase. Both primary bedroom suites include bathrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, oriented and screened to maintain privacy while framing sky views and enhancing the sense of light throughout.
