Birds Nest Residence is a contemporary, modern home in Scottsdale, Arizona, conceived by Kendle Design Collaborative. The project takes cues from the work of mid-century architects Richard Neutra and Al Beadle, notably their emphasis on clean geometry and a close relationship between building and landscape. The house seeks to achieve a sense of timelessness and considers the integration of desert views and privacy when addressing its site.
A composition of strong rectilinear forms is moderated by the use of natural materials, which link both the interior and exterior environments. The Great Room acts as the central space, visually and physically extending toward the pool terrace for continuous indoor-outdoor living. Native desert vegetation, interspersed with site walls, softens the home’s bold profile and supports privacy. The design centers on openness, spatial clarity, and a deliberate balance between architecture and arid landscape.
