Carla Ridge House

Carla Ridge House, designed by Montalba Architects, Inc, is a contemporary residence located in Beverly Hills, California. The brief called for a home that provides strong connections between interior and outdoor spaces within a suburban setting, using the site to introduce light, privacy, and views across different zones of the house. The design centers on intertwining courtyards that link indoor rooms with varied outdoor areas, creating sheltered spaces and opportunities for environmental respite. Overlapping horizontal rooflines extend beyond the walls to form deep overhangs, visually expanding the volumes and providing shade. Clerestory windows, set beneath a raised portion of the roof, introduce daylight into the core living spaces. The material palette is layered and textured, offset by the clean, modern lines that run through the house. At the rear, outdoor living spaces and a curved pool maximize views, while a planted island ensures privacy for the master suite deck, subtly dividing it from the rest of the yard.
