Semple Brown Design — Cherry Hills Village, CO

Cherry Residence by Semple Brown Design features a single-story modern design with stone and wood materials and large windows overlooking natural landscaping.

Cherry Residence is a house designed by Semple Brown Design, located in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Sited on a 1¼-acre lot with open mountain views to the west, the project was shaped by local height restrictions and the goal of managing solar gain from the afternoon sun. The brief called for the living areas to have a strong connection to the landscape while addressing comfort and energy performance challenges specific to the western exposure. The layout organizes primary living spaces on the ground floor to highlight mountain views and maintain a direct relationship with the site. Subsidiary spaces are separated into a split-level arrangement, allowing for the mechanical and physical isolation of rooms not in daily use. The ranch-like, low-profile form meets local covenants and supports the clients’ desire for efficient day-to-day living, with private areas positioned to benefit from the site’s orientation without competing with the main public spaces.
