Lost Creek Cabin

Lost Creek Cabin sits on a private site at the border of a dense forest with views over the Snake River Plain in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Completed in 2010, the 3,500-square-foot dwelling was designed for a sensitive in-holding within Grand Teton National Park, responding to both the natural scenery and the need for privacy within its protected context. The brief shaped a linear plan that orients all living spaces toward the landscape, emphasizing connection to the Teton Range. A continuous glass wall organizes the main rooms along the view corridor, incorporating large operable panels to open the interiors to the outdoors and to natural light patterns that shift throughout the day. The building uses clapboard-formed concrete extending from the exterior into the house beneath a ceiling of lapped alder wood panels, which also continue outwards to form the cover for the entry carport and deep eaves. A sliding mahogany door provides separation between the master suite and communal zones. The roof structure appears to float above the house, contributing to the site's sense of openness and creating visual continuity with the surrounding landscape.
