TVA Architects INC. — Sisters, Oregon

The Fadjur Lane Residence by TVA Architects INC. is located in Sisters, Oregon, on a high desert site populated by tall grasses, shrubs, and pine trees. The brief called for a family residence that engaged with the natural landscape while preserving the existing vegetation, with the additional consideration of future equestrian facilities. The property is also used for alfalfa farming. The house, totaling 3,200 square feet, is composed of three distinct pavilions connected by glazed corridors. This arrangement balances communal and private spaces, giving family members options for gathering and retreat. Deep roof overhangs and operable louvers form part of the environmental response, mitigating seasonal extremes. Two prominent fireplace chimneys provide vertical accents to the otherwise horizontal massing, and a double row of deciduous trees establishes a transition from the residence to the surrounding land. Throughout the design and construction, care was taken to retain all existing trees and encourage native plant growth on the site.
