Lake Retreat + Boathouse

Lake Retreat + Boathouse, designed by Burton Baldridge Architects, is a vacation residence for a multi-generational family on Blue Lake near Marble Falls, Texas. The project called for a comprehensive interior renovation of the existing home, alongside significant new construction. Additions include a semidetached boathouse, two additional bedroom suites, a new primary suite, a new entry, a swimming pool, an elevator, and expanded parking to accommodate extended family visits. The design approach focused on unifying these interventions through a single eave datum crafted in Douglas fir, visually integrating the various old and new elements around the house. This gesture establishes a continuous line that frames both renovated interiors and new exterior features, including the primary wing and the boathouse. The reconfigured site layout connects indoor spaces to outdoor amenities such as the pool and lakefront, all organized for ease of access and views across the property.
