The Sandtrap is a contemporary painting studio designed by Craig Steely Architecture. The structure features an interior lined with large-format fir plywood panels, while the exterior is clad in diagonally oriented redwood. Corners are shaped as curves or subtractions, giving the form a spiraling quality. A roof reminiscent of a shoji screen introduces even, diffused daylight across the workspace throughout the day.
