Studio by Greene Partners is a 1850-square-foot modern structure set among tall fir and cedar trees. Developed as a multi-use facility, it accommodates an artist’s studio, exercise room, small offices, and a media room. The brief emphasized a simple design approach, minimizing both costs and the building's impact on its wooded site. The elongated shed form is positioned to preserve existing trees and to frame upper-level views toward the water. The building employs a palette of practical and robust materials, including painted cedar, cement board siding, and metal-framed windows, highlighting its utilitarian character and supporting ease of maintenance. Generous windows capture natural daylight, provide filtered forest and water views, and animate the structure after dark by emitting a lantern-like glow. The interior features built-in Douglas fir cabinetry and shelving, delivering warmth and visual contrast against the dark-stained, heated concrete flooring.
