Lower Shore Residence

Lower Shore Residence is a contemporary home by Lucid Architecture completed in 2026 along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Designed for clients with an active, social lifestyle, the plan responds to two conditions: the expansive lakefront and the privacy required from the road. The house stretches parallel to the water, with living spaces oriented to maximize visual and physical connection to the lake, while the roadside remains closed and discrete. The plan is organized into three primary zones: public, private, and support. Living, dining, and a four-season room form the social heart, anchored at both ends by poured concrete fireplaces. A defining feature of this zone is the window wall running floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall, interrupted only by a concrete hearth, which fills the interior with light and lake views. On the road-facing side, privacy is achieved with solid walls and a clerestory band that admits daylight. The exposed glulam roof structure introduces a subtle rhythm throughout, and the flexible four-season room at the center offers seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces depending on weather or season.
