Bayhouse

Bayhouse, completed in 2018, is a residential retreat designed by Rick Joy Architects in the United States. The project was shaped by its position away from urban centers and its orientation toward an infrequent ocean view, visible across an old inlet. This connection to the landscape establishes a sense of seclusion while maintaining visual access to the broader natural setting. The design employs Douglas Fir timbers, flamed and honed Kitledge Granite, and slate shingles, grounding the structure in durable, tactile materials. Copper-lined belvederes direct sunlight softly into the main living areas, contributing a warm quality to the interiors. The architectural composition emphasizes a sheltered, serene atmosphere within modern lines and material choices.
