Conundrum Creek

Conundrum Creek by Studio B Architects is a residence situated along a river in Aspen, Colorado. The project was shaped by attention to the site’s natural features, responding to the alignment of the river and the wooded riverbank. The organization of the house separates the program into distinct north and south wings, designed to orient spaces toward specific vantage points and create privacy between guest and primary areas. At the heart of the plan, a transparent great room forms the central living space, maintaining visual continuity through the building out to the landscape beyond. The north wing contains three guest rooms ending at a garage, positioned to capture filtered views through the riverside trees and take in downstream scenes. The southern wing is a secluded suite for the primary occupants with views oriented upriver. A single, gently sloping shed roof connects the two wings, rising to frame views and gather sounds from the river. A covered deck links the wings, supporting outdoor circulation and extending the living environment toward the site.
