Aspen Valley Home Aspen, Colorado

Aspen Valley Home is a 4,200-square-foot residence designed by Turkel Design and completed in 2024. Sited in Aspen, Colorado, the project was conceived for a family drawn to a location with ridgelines enclosing three sides of the lot and close proximity to the sights and sounds of the river, wildlife, and surrounding mountain range. The brief emphasized a connection to the landscape that bridges visual, physical, and experiential qualities, seeking a relationship that would feel neither strictly inside nor outside, but instead as placement within the natural context. Organization of the plan situates communal areas to make the most of uninterrupted ridgeline views, allowing shared domestic moments to unfold against the backdrop of the surrounding landscape. Bedroom suites are arranged to maximize individual outlooks, each oriented for privacy as well as a unique perspective on the site. The main level includes a primary suite positioned for ease of access to the pool and kitchen and designed to support regular routines along with engagement with the outdoors. Throughout, the home employs simple lines and an intentionally limited palette of natural materials to maintain clarity, reinforcing a sense of immersion and balance between built space and setting.
