Marfa zFab

Marfa zFab is a residential project by Brett Zamore Design, completed in 2024 in Marfa, Texas. The program called for a contemporary home with dedicated living and studio spaces, set within the west Texas landscape. The configuration responds to the site's openness, separating key functions while retaining a strong connection to the outdoors. The house consists of two prefabricated volumes—the zFabs—manufactured in Austin and brought to Marfa, where they are installed on site-built foundations. One unit contains the main living areas, while the second provides space for a studio and guest bedroom. An outdoor deck links the two structures, serving as the primary circulation route and framing wide views of the surrounding terrain. Connections to utilities are made on site. The use of prefabrication informs both the building process and the clear, modern expression of the design.
