Howe Street

Howe Street is a 7,000-square-foot residence in Lincoln Park, re-envisioned by dSPACE Studio for a new owner seeking a contemporary urban retreat. The renovation retained the original brick structure, but transformed the interior to create a restorative environment defined by daylight, textured materials, and organic forms. The project involved a comprehensive reconfiguration of the floor plan to improve circulation, introduce new amenities, and draw natural light deeper into the interior spaces. The design draws inspiration from arched openings on the home's façade, a motif echoed throughout the interior with minimalist vaulted portals, curved corners, and a custom screen wall in the primary suite. A prominent arched travertine fireplace serves as a focal point, while a reconstructed rear façade with a two-story window wall strengthens the connection to outdoor space. A restrained palette of natural materials shapes environments for gathering and daily life, while integrated wellness features—including circadian lighting, a gym, and a sauna—address the client's interest in elevating comfort and wellbeing.
