Project:Barcode is a two-story modern residence in Preston Hollow, completed in 2018 by Eckxstudio. Sited on the corner of two residential streets, the house utilizes an overlapped and offset pair of rectangles that form the two floor levels. The arrangement allows the primary circulation corridors to run from the front to the rear of the lot, optimizing connections to a series of outdoor areas designed in place of a standard side yard. The garage and driveway are positioned at the back of the site, accessed discreetly from the side street. A distinctive cladding of irregularly spaced vertical battens defines the facade and references the pattern of barcodes, translating the everyday graphic into an expressive architectural element. Living, dining, and kitchen spaces open directly to the pool area. The design emphasizes visual and spatial links between interior rooms and exterior landscapes, with glazing and circulation positioned to afford generous outdoor views throughout both levels.
