Norfolk Ave 2
Norfolk Ave 2 is a 2,700-square-foot residence by Elliott Workgroup located in Old Town, where it occupies one and a half lots beside a similar companion house. Completed on one of the last remaining sites in the historic district, the project works to reinforce the character of the surrounding streetscape and responds to the area’s mining-era heritage while adhering to established Historic Guidelines. The design references traditional forms but employs a contemporary and modern approach to detailing and materiality. The additional half lot allows for wider internal volumes and greater spatial variation when compared to typical infill projects in the area. The layout seeks to open interiors to the surroundings and maximize daylight and views, creating generous living areas that connect the interior experience with the street and landscape. The result is an interpretation of rustic modernism integrated into a context shaped by history.
